Alex Bell
Director, coach and facilitator
Alex draws upon 30 years of experience in education and outreach at school, local authority, national and international level.
Prior to becoming Director of Portland Education, he led two London schools in challenging circumstances to be Ofsted rated 'outstanding' and designed and delivered bespoke facilitation in Asia, Europe and North America for a range of schools and other organisations.
Alex has designed education and outreach programmes for international government, museums and charities, is a sought-after professional coach to senior leaders and a mentor to emerging talent.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, where he is Fellowship Councillor for Creative Learning & Development and an active member of the Innovative Education Faculty.
He is a schools adviser for the Co-operative Schools Network and academic adviser for the creative learning charity STEAM Co.
He is an innovation coach for the Teachers Guild in the USA, and a leadership and wellbeing facilitator for the Royal Pharmaceutical Society in England and Scotland. Alex is also National Associate Co-ordinator at the charity Education Support Partnership, providing CPD for their advisers nationally as well as working working with school leaders and their schools throughout the UK and Australia. He is also an Ambassador for the British Council.
Alex has worked with over 10,000 educators to build their skills and 'bravery' in bringing about lasting, creative impact for children and young people. Exhibitions of his most recent outreach projects with schools and families are among the collections of the Museum of London Docklands, the Barbados Museum and the British High Commission, Barbados.
